LIS : Before The Storm - Ep. 1 Review + Ep. 2 Predictions
First things first, I know episode 2 is already out, I somehow managed to miss when the release day was but I haven't read any other reviews or watched any play throughs so I am still completely oblivious to what happens.
Episode 1 was amazing! It completely surpassed my expectations in every aspect. It still has a cute, introvert, cult indie vibe that I worried might be lost without Max but somehow that is still there even with an almost completely new cast of characters. Speaking of new characters, Rachel Amber. No explanation needed. I was prepared to dislike her but I am absolutely in love with her. She represents how so many people feel and is relatable in so many ways. All the other new characters are really interesting too, especially Steph and Mickey as I can't wait to see how their role in the story evolves. The story and dialogue was as good and maybe even better than the original game and the music blew me away and I have already ordered a Firewalk t-shirt. The graphics were noticeably better too. The only strange thing (get it?) about it was the 'backchat challenges' although fun at times they make the game seem slightly 'clanky' and often don't seem to have any positive repercussions...
Now onto episode 2. The trailer is really intriguing - it gives away a lot about the plot so there's not much left for me to predict. David is moving in with Chloe and Joyce and of course Chloe is not happy, Throughout the trailer there is lots of teenage angst going on and there looks to be lots of drama too; it wouldn't surprise me if this will be Chloe and Rachel's attempted escape... Chloe is also asked to run a dangerous looking errand by Frank which we know won't end well. We will see the return of the Blackwell dorm rooms although whether we'll be breaking into and stealing stuff from them is yet to be revealed. There look to be more new characters to talk to including the woman Rachel's dad is supposedly cheating on Rachel's mum with. The music is once again good and the reviews seen on the trailer are exceptional. One final thing I noticed was the photography element seen at the end of the trailer. Camera flashes and shutter noises are used for dramatic effect but could this be a nod to Max? Maybe 'in remembrance' so to speak or maybe she is featured more heavily in this episode?
That is it on LIS : Before The Storm for now. I will post my episode 2 review once I have played it through.
