Firstly, I got through! I am so excited about this competition so thank you for letting me join. The theme for round 1 was sun. I went down the summer route; I know that summer will be a popular theme but I'm hoping that I'll be doing something no-one else is. I have always wanted to travel so I have taken this opportunity to create a travel capsule/lookbook for 3 very different holiday destinations.
Dubai
UAE
Dress code in Dubai is quite strict. In most public places you will be expected to cover your shoulders and have trousers or a skirt that reaches your knees; I have reflected this in my outfit. I am wearing a plain white, loose fitting top with 'sandy' hareem pants. For shoes, I went with black sandals with thick soles. I also styled my hair differently and wore my usual makeup (dark lipstick with eyeliner and nude eyeshadow).
Paxos
Greece
Paxos is one of the gorgeous islands off the coast of Greece. You are of course surrounded by the sea and almost every villa has a pool. I am wearing a white swimsuit paired with a blue, patterned kimono. I am wearing nude makeup but it is very minimal as this is supposed be a look for the beach.
LA
United States Of America
LA is of course where I am now with OWM. I'm loving it so far. For my outfit, I'm wearing a simple crop top with shorts and trainers. I have sunglasses and pink eyeshadow as well as the usual lipstick, blush and eyeliner.
Now onto what has happened so far in LA...
I wandered in to my room setting my keys down on the side. There were three beds so it looked like I was getting some roommates. There was a large suitcase in one of the beds which had been left open containing a European Passport. I decided to stop being nosy and went to lift my suitcase up onto the bed closest to me and took out the important stuff like my camera, laptop and swimwear. Even though I was heading to the beach next, I didn't want to show up in swimwear with people I didn't yet know. I put the swimming costume back and turned to face the table. It had 2 identical pieces of paper on so I took the top one and sat down on my bed to read it.
'There's a hot guy down at the beach but only one of you from this room can score a date with him. Good luck!'
I'm not going to lie, I did roll my eyes. I didn't expect this to be a scripted reality show. I quickly stuffed the piece of paper in my pocket, left the room and began to make my way down to the beach.
As I arrived at the beach, I saw the 'hot guy' I was supposed to get a date with. I sat down in the sand running my finger through it to spell my name. Another girl walks up to me.
"Hi" she says with a clear, French accent.
"Hiya" I reply.
She sits down next to me in the sand, holding her room keys. As she fiddled with them I see that she's in room 8.
"Huh, that's funny, I'm in room 8 too." I say.
"Really? I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Aloise."
"Leah." I reply
"I'm assuming you saw this." Aloise holds the note about the 'hot guy' in front of me.
"Yeah"
"We should be rivals then."
"I'm not really into romance if I'm honest. I'll just sit back and watch you 2 fight over him." I reply laughing.
Aloise laughs and I feel a little bit of confidence.
"Do you want him?"
"I want to win."
"Do you want me to help you?"
"What do you mean 'help me'?"
"I'll go and talk to him, say how nice you are etcetera."
"That's really nice of you" Aloise says smiling, I can tell she's considering my offer. I shrug as way of hurrying her to make a decision.
"Okay then!" She says.
"As long as theres no drama." I quickly say.
"No, I'm not that keen on drama"
At that moment another girl comes onto the beach and shouts for whoever else is in room 8. Aloise and I wave and she comes over, we both stand up to greet her.
"I'm Sasha. Nice to meet you." I shake her hand and introduce myself. Sasha turn to Aloise and does the same.
"Are you both going to be fighting for the guy?" She asks
Aloise and I nod hesitantly but fortunately, Sasha says she's going to go off and talk to some other people.
"I'm going then." I say
"Wait, where are you going?"
"To talk to him for you. Be back in a minute."
I start to jog over to him quickly glancing and smiling at Aloise on the way.
"Hello" he says to me
"Hi"
"And you are?"
"Oh, I'm Leah"
"Have you come to flirt with me too?"
"No actually" I reply, slightly confused by the question, "I'm here on behalf of my friend, she's sitting over there." I point back to Aloise.
"I'm not supposed to tell you this but she really likes you. I swear she's been swooning all day." I lie although I can see he's interested and looking back over my shoulder.
"She's really nice and from France. Her name's Aloise if you fancy talking to her?"
"Okay" he says
"I'll go and get her"
I go back to our spot in the sand and sit down again.
"I've done my bit, it's all up to you..."
Aloise stands and walks over to him. I walk them talk and flirt; Aloise looks very happy when she comes back.
"I think he likes me" she says triumphantly.
Later that evening, whilst I'm walking back to the room after an evening stroll, I see Sasha with the guy; and they're kissing. I mean properly kissing. I turn away and dread telling Aloise the news, that's if she doesn't already know...
