Dubai Diaries - 28/05/17
7:28 (GMT)
It is currently half seven (half 10 in 'Dubai time') in the morning and I'm watching the runway at Heathrow airport from my hotel room. After a 4 hour drive (traffic jams, lots), I arrived at the hotel. I've been for a swim and seeing how many different airlines I can count landing; of course there's been no movement of BA planes. I've seen : South African, Emirates, SAS, LOT, Quantus, Ethihad and United. It's surprisingly addictive.
11:16 (GMT) Only a few hours until our flight. I have bought apples and sweets for the journey as well as sunglasses for when we get there. It's quite amazing seeing so many people and hearing so many accents, I feel like a proper traveller! The gate number should go up in about an hour so have lots of time to kill...
16:05 (GTZ) The flight was about 6 and a half hours and arrived in Dubai at midnight local time. I only watched one film on the plane and that was 'I, Daniel Blake'. I spoke to some people and altogether the flight wasn't too painful. Return flight is an hour longer though... As soon as I arrived at the hotel (Atlantis, The Palm), I went up to the room and immediately went to sleep.
