Muellers - #11

I got up and ran to the door. I looked out of the window to see a black fiat500, Sue's car.

"Hi Sue! How are y-, have you been crying?"

"Does it show?"

"Oh Sue, what happened? Come in..."

"Hold on, Lillie's in the car"

"Why is she not at school?"

"I'll explain in a minute. Has the red gone yet? She can't see me like this..."

"You know what I'll go and get Lillie out of the car, you go and get a wet cloth or something..."

Sue went inside and I walked up to the car and opened the door.

"Hi Lillie"

"Oh, hi Constance"

She got out of the car and looked at me.

"How are you?"

We started to walk over to the house

"Good thank you, how are you?"

I little bit surprised by how good her manners were I continued, "I'm good. Thank you for asking. You are a very polite little girl"

She blushed and looked down as we entered the house.

"Oh wow!"

"What?"

"Your house is lovely, and Lou has the new colouring book that everyone at school has!"

"I'm sure she wouldn't mind you colouring in a page or two..."

"Really?!"

"Off you go... Me and mum will be upstairs..."

I met Sue in my bedroom and sat down.

"Okay Sue, what's happened?"

"Well you know that I left your father..."

"Yeah," Sue started to cry again,"what's he done?"

"Well he kicked me and Lillie out, we've been staying in this little flat but it's too much money and so much crime, we've even got death threats... I don't want that to happen to Lillie..."

"Oh Sue... Wait are you asking for money!"

"No, no. I just needed someone to talk t-"

"Sue, that's not bad. We're family, kinda... I'll look out for you and I'm sure that you'll look out for me..."

She nodded

"You know what, live here... With me and Lou... Yeah?"

"Oh my... Connie, really? Thank you!"

"Lillie will have to sleep on a zed-bed and you'll have to have regular income because I'm struggling to support Lou, never mind Lillie as well!" I laughed and Sue did too. Lillie came in and stood behind us.

"But where would we sleep?"

"In here!"

"But this is your mum's bedroom..."

"Yeah I know, it doesn't mean that my step mum and sister can't stay in here..."

We all helped set up the zed-bed for Lillie and sat down.

"So what do you think about staying here with Connie and Lou, Lillie?"

"It's amazing!"
